Carols and Crafts

We all had a fabulous afternoon here at Carols and Crafts today. (more pictures also on our Facebook page) A really fun relaxing time making reindeer heads and decorating jars organised by Hazel. Beautiful music on the keyboard played by George, the recorder group and also Alison on the piano. Georgi and John had decorated The Ship beautifully with Christmas Trees and table decorations. Homemade bakes and we also had a raffle of some lovely prizes.

Thank you to all who came!! and thank you to Georgi and John for their huge efforts, and all who played, thank you for the bakes too – lovely time for all! Our next Crafts Music and tea event is on Sunday 8th March 2 – 4pm, decorating flower pots, and planting them up “Spring Creations”.

Warmest wishes and Happy Christmas!

Music from the Celtic Nations – 17th September 2022

We had the most wonderful evening “Music from the Celtic Nations” with Paul Hancock (uillean pipes, tin whistles and low whistle), Mark Turauskis (bouzouki, bodran and vocals), Sara Daniels (concertina, guitar and vocals) performed beautiful descriptive Celtic Nations (England, Scotland and Wales). Songs included. The Thought of You by Sara Daniels, John Barleycorn by Mark Turauskis, Linden Lea by Ralph Vaughan Williams, The Field behind

The Plough by Stan Rogers and many more songs! Many of the audience had their foot tapping or hands tapping on surfaces.

After the interval, by kind permission of the band, Jessica Craker-Knott, Jo Whitfield and Paul Freeman, fellow members of the Kingsclere Singers, performed “Both sides of the Tweed”, inspired by the band Head North’s version of this song and by a piano accompaniment used by Dick Gaughan. The voices blended so harmoniously and the piano accompaniment was lovely. The band played us more beautiful music until the end. We hope to have them again in 2024.

Our next Open Mic is on Friday 7th October at 7pm.

Our next event is A Tudor Evening with Courtlye Musick!! on Saturday 22nd October 2022 at 7pm. Tickets from Eventbrite, or phone The Ship 01189 814504 Please buy your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.
