Festival of Light Sunday 1st December 2024

Sunday 1st December 3 – 5pm we had a wonderful creative time here at The Ship in Ashford Hill, the theme was light in darkness. It was a popular event and we had a good turnout.

We painted glass jars and popped an LED light in it, made Garlands from tissue paper and coloured serviettes and popped a little light in the middle of each flower, flowers on sticks, simple candle decoration and a light box. All the creations were absolutely stunning!

While creating, we had Flautissimo II play their flutes and the Recorder group playing popular Christmas carols, directed by Alison Pickering, and then Alison played Christmassy music on the piano towards the end, it really initiated the festive season! Alison read “The Night before Christmas” so beautifully, we switched most of the lights off, while she read it.

The Ship was beautifully decorated by Georgi Selby, so welcoming. Homemade bakes made by the Committee. Thank you to all who came along, it was very special to have you all.

What a lovely start to Christmas!
